How we develop Social Security Disability claims:

Disability Advocates, Inc.'s case development utilizes the same sequential evaluation process that is used by the SSA.
This process includes the following steps:
  • Is the claimant engaging in a substantial gainful activity?

  • Does the claimant have a severe impairment?

  • Does the claimant have an impairment which meets or equates a medical listing?

  • Does the claimant's residual functional capacity (RFC) allow a return to past relevant work?

  • Does a claimant's RFC allow a return to other work?

In addition to the sequential evaluation process, our claims development adjudication process includes the following steps:
  • Reviewing medical and vocational evidence from insurance company records.

  • Completing necessary application forms and mailing them for the LTD claimant's signature.

  • Preparing initial claims for submission to Social Security and, where appropriate, including an assessment of the claimant's disability.

  • Filing appeals in the reconsideration, hearing, and appeals council reviews.

  • Preparing and referring claims for independent medical examination and/or vocational assessment.

  • Identifying the need for expert medical testimony.

  • Preparing a case summary for written or oral presentation at the hearing level.

  • Representing claimants at hearing when necessary.

  • Pursuing appeals to federal courts when necessary.

  • Updating and reviewing computer base on individual claims.

  • Monitoring status of pending claims.

  • Identifying records and query types for status checks with Social Security.

  • Preparing a quarterly report summary of the status of all pending claims per insurance company client.
