Frequently Asked Questions:
- Who is Disability Advocates, Inc.? DAI is an organization developed specifically to assist persons with disabilities in obtaining Social Security Disability (SSDI) benefits. We are Successful in more than 95% of the cases we present, many of these at early stages of the Social Security Administration (SSA) process.
- What does DAI do for persons with disabilities? Each client is assigned a "Claimant Advocate". This advocate
is probably the only person you will ever talk to. By telephone, your advocate will obtain the information about you, your
employment, your disabling condition, and the physicians treating your condition and what has been accomplished
to date with the Social Security Administration.
Your advocate will then direct your case from that moment forward. He will determine and obtain the medical records necessary to present your case to the SSA in the most favorable light. He is responsible for meeting all the Social Security filing requirements and will keep you informed as to what you need to do, what you may expect to occur next and when.
If your case does not receive a favorable determination at Initial Consideration or Reconsideration, your advocate will recommend that you request a hearing and will accompany you and represent you at the hearing. If still unsuccessful, he will direct your appeal. Finally, if still unsuccessful, he will recommend an attorney who also specializes in SSA disability cases who will continue the process through U.S. District Court. - Where is DAI located? The office is in Kansas City Missouri. The mailing address is:
Disability Advocates, Inc.
P.O. Box 28305
Kansas City, MO 64188-0305.

we can achieve success early in the SSA process. The best time is after you've been off work three or four months, before you make the initial
application for SSDI benefits.
It is never too late to contact DAI for assistance. We can accept your case regardless of what stage your case has reached, provided the U.S. District Court has not ruled against your appeal. - Why do I need assistance from DAI or anyone else? You may not need assistance at all. Many individuals, however, have
enough stress added to their lives just adjusting to a new lifestyle dictated by the disabling condition. Although you may feel if is obvious that you are disabled, according
to the law, very specific criteria be met to be awarded SSDI benefits.
There are potentially five stages in the SSA administration process. Each has specific filing and time requirements for the claimant. Your DAI advocate is an expert in developing the evidence in a way that maximizes the probability of success at each and every stage. - How do I get DAI started working on my behalf? All you need to do is call DAI at 1-800-788-3910. You will discuss the circumstances of your case with a Claimant Advocate.
